Houston as a New Age Magical/Mystical Incubator

In 1975, when I synchronistically learned that Houston has an entire community of spiritual seekers, teachers, and people willing to share their knowledge of metaphysics, it came as a shock that I had previously been completely unaware that things like that existed.
When I connected with the Chapel of Prayer and Rev. Eleanor Button, I knew I was home at last. I had no concept of multi-dimensional realities, ETs, magical abilities that transcended modern science, past lives that might be affecting this current life, or that I had any power or abilities beyond a few psychic experiences and some knowledge of ESP. I was fascinated and ready to absorb like a sponge.
I soon found that Houston had a wealth of opportunities to learn and experience beyond what was then perceived as reality. And that reality was mostly subjective; you live what you believe.
I often found myself telling others that what they were saying was too far out for me. Kip Davidson, a 7th generation Celtic seer, an anthropologist, and a true humanitarian, used to say, "If you were exposed to it, you will need it at some point, so just put it in your psychic backpack and you will remember it when the time comes."
How true that became in my future as a psychic reader, healer, teacher, student, and constant seeker. I learned how to listen to my guidance and take steps toward trusting what I was hearing - seeing - feeling. Houston was my incubator, The Rising Sun was my fast-track learning vehicle because it exposed me to every person and practice possible. When I began to be conscious of the synchronicities as they happened, it was more exciting than ever. Now, with a new more mainstream spiritual magazine, I am still learning, remembering and loving this magical, mystical place. ~Sandy Penny
